Sandra Bullock's longtime partner Brian Randall passed away over the weekend, his family confirmed in a statement to PEOPLE on Monday. He was 57 years old.
“We are saddened to announce that Brian Randall passed away peacefully on August 5th after a three-year battle with ALS,” his family said. “Brian chose early on to keep his ALS journey private, and those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his wishes.”
“I would like to thank the tireless doctors who have worked with us through this disease and the wonderful nurses who have been our roommates, often sacrificing their own families for ours. We are very grateful,” his family added.
“At this time, we ask for privacy as we grieve and come to terms with the inability to say goodbye to Brian,” the statement concluded, signed: “His loving family.” There is.
Bullock, 59, first met model-turned-photographer Randall in January 2015 when they photographed her son Louis' birthday. Later that year, their relationship became more public, with her attending Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux's wedding.
