Dallas-based healthcare company Tenet Healthcare Corporation has appointed industry leader Vinita Agarwala, MD, to its Board of Directors, effective immediately.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Vinita Agarwala to the Tenet Board of Directors,” Saum Sutaria, MD, Tenet Chairman and CEO, said in a statement. “Vineeta is a healthcare leader in her own right. Her expertise in innovative technologies, including the application of artificial intelligence, will strengthen our governance in the rapidly evolving healthcare market.”
Tenet said Agarwala will serve on the quality, compliance and ethics committee and the human resources committee, increasing the size of the board to 13 directors.
She is a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and leads investments in the firm's Bio+Health Fund across biotechnology and digital health, Tenet said. Agarwala is focused on partnering with companies that leverage unique technologies and datasets to advance new approaches to drug development, personalized medicine, and patient care delivery.
Agarwala's experience includes research at the prestigious Broad Institute for Computational Biology and Human Genetics. She completed her clinical training at Stanford University and is board certified in her internal medicine practice.
