Whoopi Goldberg finally came face-to-face with her newfound relative, Tony Gonzalez, and they wasted no time in asking each other for favors.
Early this month, find your rootsHenry Louis Gates dropped news to Goldberg that she and the former NFL star are “distant cousins” and that the two share DNA on Gonzalez's mother's and father's sides. sceneryGoldberg, 68, and Gonzalez, 47, meet for the first time!
“Cousin Whoopi! Cousin Whoopi,” Gonzalez called out to her, while Goldberg told the audience, “This is my blood in there.”
The co-hosts were quick to joke about the relationship, with Sarah Haines joking, “Now I want to go find my roots…” and Ana Navarro saying, “Maybe I'll go find my roots…” I think this is the only one that doesn't come out,” he teased. I want to have a will! ”
But Gonzalez wasn't above that. “It's in the will, I'll take it!” he asked Goldberg, “Can I borrow $5?”
“Hey, listen, anything for you,” the EGOT winner replied.
But that wasn't the only request. Later in the segment, Goldberg spoke to the former Kansas City Chiefs tight end about the upcoming Super Bowl to see if he could help score tickets.
“I think Julia Roberts was here a few weeks ago and we were talking about the Super Bowl, because she wants to go. She says she's never been,” Goldberg said. recalled, then hinted at Gonzalez. “And I said, , maybe I can help you get in…”
“What I'm saying is, great for Taylor Swift, but Julia Roberts is pretty hot too!” Goldberg continued. “So I wondered, 'cause this is Las Vegas and you could go, you could be hanged, and if you decide you need to go with some people, maybe with Julia. I will go with you.”
Gonzalez was a match. “I got a cousin. I got a cousin,” he said. “Please come with me as a guest. Please bring Julia as well. The more you have, the better.”

“Oh my god. It was unbelievable,” Gonzalez recalled. “At the end he says, 'Every time on the show, there's someone who's connected to other people. Do you want to see who that is? Turn the page.' And as he turns the page, It was you and I thought, “What?” Whoopi Goldberg? I love Whoopi, she’s so cool!”
He explained that he and Mr. Goldberg were connected through his grandfather's slave, George Betts. Betts was one of only 5% of slaves who purchased real estate after the abolition of slavery.
“This guy was tough,” Gonzalez said. “And that's really amazing. He was elected major in the militia to protect black people, because a lot of white people weren't happy that slavery was abolished…This is just a strong man. This is your relative.'' With a relative. He is a strong and stubborn person. ”

Gonzalez also told Goldberg that she wasn't the only one who found out he had a cousin.
