Sources said Friends star Courteney Cox, who is also friends with Claudia Winkleman, has previously appeared in a sketch on the show and was chosen to appear.
If true, Claudia will be competing in the ultimate game of trust and deception alongside 21 other celebrities, although organisers are said to be hoping more of Claudia's A-list friends will get involved.
Claudia herself also revealed the celebrities she would like to see appear on the show, saying, “Victoria Coren Mitchell, because I want to hug her. I know, it's weird. Adam Woodyatt anytime. I'd also like Andrew Garfield and Stephen Fry to appear.”

Friends star Courteney Cox is the first celebrity to be reported to have signed up to Celebrity Traitors.
“The fact that producers are targeting a Friends star shows the level of celebrity they're aiming for with Celebrity Traitors,” a source told The Sun.
Last year, Courtney took part in a skit to encourage contestants on The Traitors season 2. In the tongue-in-cheek video, Claudia can be seen standing in front of Courtney, whose identity is hidden by the show's iconic green cape.
In the video, Claudia said: “I've got some news for you: Series 2 of Traitor is coming. Wanna join in? Maybe we'll see you at the castle.”
Courtney pulled her hood down and asked, “Claudia, can you do me a favor?”
The host responded: “Like I said before, no. Celebrities and people as famous as this person can't apply. Here we go.”
Rebecca Vardy
Year: 42
work: Media Personality

Wagatha Christie rivals Rebecca Vardy and Coleen Rooney are reportedly set to appear in Celebrity Traitors.
“The show has high ratings so bosses want big names and The Traitors have a huge showbiz following so they know they have plenty of options,” a source previously told The Sun.
Colleen Rooney
Year: 37
work: Television personality

Following her legal battle with Rebecca Vardy, The Sun reports that TV bosses believe Coleen could be a great addition to Celebrity Traits.
Coleen is well known for being married to former England footballer Wayne Rooney since 2008.
“They're looking for star players who are good game players, have good survival skills, the ability to outwit and sniff out traitors,” the source said.
Alison Hammond
Year: 49
work: Television presenter
Instagram: Allison Hammond 55
Everyone's favourite TV queen Alison Hammond is also rumoured to be joining the celebrity version of the BBC One show.
Hammond rose to fame when she competed on the third season of Big Brother in 2002. She was supposedly the second housemate to be evicted, but has since become a TV regular.
She currently co-hosts The Great British Bake Off alongside Noel Fielding and appears frequently as a presenter on This Morning.
Gary Lineker
Year: 63
work: TV announcer, former soccer player

Match of the Day presenter and former footballer Gary Lineker is also one of the celebrities rumoured to be appearing on the BBC show.
Lineker played for Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Barcelona and scored 48 goals for England.
Rylan Clark
Year: 35
work: Television presenter
Instagram: Rylan
TV personality and presenter Rylan Clark is rumored to be in line to star in a celebrity version of The Traitors if it were to come to fruition, and RadioTimes.com columnist and season one winner Hannah Bitkowski is all for it.
“If there is one, I would love to see Rylan in it. Gemma Collins. If she's not in Traitor I don't know what I'd do. Gemma Collins needs to be in Traitor… Who else would you like to see in Traitor?” she said, when asked who she thinks would make a great celebrity actor.
Rylan rose to fame in 2012 when he appeared on The X Factor, coming in fifth place. The following year, he appeared on and won season 11 of Celebrity Big Brother, and has since gone on to host shows such as Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two, Ready Steady Cook and Hot Mess Summer.
Matt Hancock
Year: 45
work: politician
Instagram: Follow
Reality TV has had a penchant for featuring former politicians recently and, if speculation is true, Celebrity Traitors could follow this trend and sign former Health Secretary Matt Hancock.
Hancock has appeared in a number of reality TV shows, including I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, and could be a potential nominee.
The Traitors is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
