DCW vows to take action against trolls abusing Shubman Gill's sister
New Delhi: Ace cricketer Shubman Gill and his sister were at the receiving end of Gujarat Titans' victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2023 Indian Primer League (IPL). As Gill scored prolifically and contributed to the team's impressive victory, furious RCB fans targeted him and even abused his sister on social media. Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson Swati Maliwal on Monday took cognizance of the issue and said the commission would take action.
Maliwal shared screenshots of some Twitter users who were allegedly trolling Shubman's sister and said DCW would take action against all those who abused her. “This will not be tolerated!” the DCW chief tweeted.
“It's very shameful to see trolls abusing #ShubhmanGill's sister just because the team they follow lost a match. Previously, we spoke to people abusing #ViratKohli's daughter We have started action against…” she added.

Another user wrote, “Some of the sick Kori fans are abusing Gil and his family (especially his sister). This toxic and negative energy called fans is also one of the reasons why the king doesn't see the light.” .Gil is a future superstar.'' of Indian cricket. ”
“One of the main reasons I can't stand RCB and hope they never win a trophy is because of their toxic fan base, for mistreating Gill and now his sister; Everything Gil did was his job for the team that employed him,” a Twitter user posted.
Meanwhile, Shubman Gill scored his second consecutive IPL century by hitting five fours and eight sixes in a high-scoring thriller with a strike rate of 200 in the final league match played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. He scored a goal. Gill's brilliant century helped GT to a dramatic win and dash RCB's hopes of making it to the playoffs. Shubman was unbeaten on 104 off 52 pitches.
