The 12-member election monitoring body, the Supervisory Council, finalized the list of approved candidates on the same day and submitted it to the Ministry of Interior.
The six candidates approved to run in the June 28 election are former Justice Minister Mostafa Pourmohammadi, former Health Minister Massoud Pezeshkian, Martyrs and Veterans Affairs Foundation head Amirhossein Ghazizadeh Hashemi, Tehran Mayor Alireza Zakhani, former nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf.
The vote came after the late President Ebrahim Raeisi was killed along with seven others in a helicopter crash on May 19.
