Presidential candidates arrived in Cincinnati today. Independent candidate Dr. Cornel West was guest speaker at a special program at Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church, where several high school and college graduates were honored during the 40th anniversary celebration of the church's scholarship program. West is the author of 20 books and teaches courses in philosophy of religion and African-American critical thinking at Union Theological Seminary. He is a former professor at Harvard and Princeton universities. Later that day, he spoke exclusively to WLWT at a College Hill cafe about his run for the White House. “My campaign is about bringing America back to its best,” West said. On his hopes and challenges for a third-party candidacy and the next debate, for which he did not qualify, West said, “I think what we see on that stage will be very humiliating for us as a country, because it will just be a joke. The ugly hatred and vendetta coming from Trump and Biden will be so overwhelming that it will be hard to carry on a conversation, because of age and so many other reasons. “And then, out of 330 million people, I'm saying this is the best we can do about the two of us, and then I say, 'Oh, there are other people running for president,'” West said. A recent Marist Institute poll showed that most voters support their candidate of choice and nothing is going to change their mind.

“My campaign is about showcasing America at its best again,” West said.
He shared his thoughts on the hopes and challenges of running as a third party, as well as upcoming debates for which he has not met the eligibility requirements.
“I think what we see on this stage is going to be very humiliating as a country, because it's going to be just a joke. I mean, all of the ugly hatred and vendetta that's coming out of Trump and Biden, both because of age and because of so many other reasons, is going to be overwhelming and it's going to be hard to actually carry on a conversation. And when you say this is the best we can do about the two of us out of 330 million of our fellow countrymen, I say, 'Oh, there's other people running for president,'” West said.
A recent Marist Institute poll revealed that most voters support their chosen candidate and nothing is going to change their mind.
