Celebrity fashion can easily become a topic of heated debate, especially when it comes to deciding which stars were best (and sadly, worst) dressed this week. With the frequency of events like red carpet premieres and award ceremonies, and even smaller events like celebrity sightings, there are bound to be a ton of interesting looks to ponder.
Last week we Yahoo Canada Readers could vote for the best and worst dressed celebrities at events such as the 2024 Tony Awards, the Louis Vuitton fashion show and several film premieres. This week's top five choices for best dressed celebrities were Angelina Jolie, Austin Butler, Eva Longoria, Cynthia Erivo and Laverne Cox. Choices for the worst dressed stars included Constance Wu, Colman Domingo, Celine Dion, Emma Stone and Brooke Shields.
Looking at the results of the opinion poll, Yahoo Canada Our readers were quite divided on this week's celebrity fashion. Below you'll find more details on the results of the polls over the past few days and, of course, find out which stars were voted best and worst dressed.
Best Dressed Winner: Angelina Jolie
There's something about Angelina Jolie that makes her seem like she has incredible wisdom, and her fashion savvy this week certainly rang true: Of the more than 1,300 voters, 43 percent chose the 49-year-old actress as this week's best dressed.
The mother of six wore a light teal gown by Atelier Versace to the 2024 Tony Awards, where she accepted her first award at the ceremony as a producer of “The Outsiders: The Musical.” Custom-made by Jolie, the strapless velvet dress featured a sweetheart neckline and revealed her latest tattoo, which depicted a sparrow-like bird with its wings spread in flight.
For accessories, she chose several bracelets, including a hand-carved Lucite bangle by Alexis Bittar. Celebrity hairstylist Renato Campora tousled Jolie's lush tresses using Maria Nira's True Soft Argan Oil, and makeup artist Raul Alejandre gave her a magical look with a soft pink lip. In our secondary survey, over 1,000 voters were somewhat divided on the look: 41% agreed it was beautiful, while 30% said it was a bad outfit, and 29% were somewhere in between.
Jolie attended the ceremony with her 15-year-old daughter, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, who served as a production assistant on the musical adaptation of the 1967 novel. The teen actress matched her mother's cool palette in a crisp blue suit, matching bow tie, and white button-up shirt.
talk deadlineJolie explained that she got to know her daughter better after working with her, saying that her “daughter Viv loves theatre” and was drawn to the story.
“This was a very different experience to understand what a huge impact this has on her as a young woman now. She's trying to tell me something, and that's the power of this film,” Jolie said. “And I've had the privilege of watching everyone work over the last year to make this film, and Vivienne has been there the whole time.”
Best Dressed Runner-Up: Eva Longoria
When it's right, it's right. Of the 1,300+ voters, 31% chose Eva Longoria as this week's best dressed. The 49-year-old actress looked all red in Simkhai's Orson one-shoulder midi dress in midtown New York. In the second round of voting, readers were convinced that this was a powerful look. Of the 1,000+ voters, 65% rated the look as great, while 11% disliked it and 24% were mixed.
The mother-of-one's all-leather dress showed off her phenomenal curves, with a thigh-high slit and rope-like elements on the bodice. The Desperate Housewives actress appeared on Today in the look, where she spoke about her TV series, Land of Women, and motherhood. “When you have kids, you feel like you have to make the world a better place. You're like, 'Oh no, I can't stay like this.'”
Worst Dressed Award Winner: Constance Wu
The fluffy party look doesn't seem to have impressed Yahoo Canada readers, unfortunately for Constance Wu, who was named this week's worst-dressed celeb after rocking a coral pink Miu Miu two-piece look at Queerty Celebrates Pride50 Gala.
But this week's worst-dressed celebrity poll split opinion on which star's outfit was the most offensive, with only 24% of more than 1,100 voters thinking the Crazy Rich Asians star took home this week's title.
It was a close call, but there was consensus that the 42-year-old didn't look particularly impressive at the New York party. Our secondary poll found that 82% of over 1,000 voters thought the outfit was bad, compared to just 3% who liked the look and 15% who weren't sure.
Wu's feathered outfit consisted of a thin-strap satin crop top and a matching mini skirt. The Hustlers actress accessorized with metallic-strap Rene Caovilla juniper sandals, a pale pink short necklace, pearl earrings, and a shiny hair clip.
Runner-up for Worst Dressed: Emma Stone
Emma Stone narrowly missed out on the title of worst-dressed celebrity this week, with 22 percent of voters choosing the 35-year-old actress as the week's worst-dressed star. Stone attended the New York premiere of her film “Kinds of Kindness” wearing the same all-black outfit she wore to the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2025 show.
The outfit was a sheer polka-dot cover-up that the “La La Land” star teamed with black mini shorts and ankle-strap heels. She accessorized with simple silver stud earrings and garnet red nails. Though the dress was a miss, Stone still looked stunning in her sparkly makeup, with a vibrant red lip. Her brown hair was parted in the middle and tucked behind her ears, cascading down her back.
Secondary voters agreed that this wasn't the best look of the week: out of over 1,000 people, 78% said they didn't like the outfit, while 8% were fans of the outfit and 14% were neutral.
