Simone Biles and the U.S. women's gymnastics team drew a host of celebrity fans to the 2024 Olympics in Paris on Sunday.
Despite the injury, Biles competed in the women's qualifying round on Sunday, July 28, and recorded the highest scores on floor exercise and vault, records that are unlikely to be broken throughout the remainder of the qualifying round.
Celebrities in the crowd included Tom Cruise, who was greeted by fans rushing up to him in the arena to take selfies and shake his hand several times.
Actress and producer Jessica Chastain was sitting directly in front of Anna Wintour at Vogue, who was there with Elvis' director Baz Luhrmann.
Lady Gaga was also in attendance after her performance at the opening ceremony.
She posted a video of Biles on the beam to Instagram, with the words on the screen reading, “Beautiful she did it. Honored to be so close!”

Biles competed in the team qualifiers alongside U.S. teammates Jordan Childs, Hezly Rivera, Sunisa Lee and Jade Carey. Making her first competitive appearance in Paris, Biles will be looking to add to her seven Olympic medals. The Olympian has already begun setting milestones as the fourth U.S. woman competing in her third Olympic Games, the oldest U.S. gymnast competing in an Olympic Games at age 27 in 72 years, and the most decorated U.S. gymnast with the most Olympic medals, tied with Shannon Miller.
She returned to the Olympics after competing in Rio in 2016 and Tokyo in 2020, but had to withdraw from most of the 2020 competition due to a condition called twisties.
“The brain no longer communicates with the body, and athletes shift and lose their sense of place,” U.S. women's national team coach Randy said in Biles' recent Netflix documentary, ” Simone Biles: Rising“Most of the time it has nothing to do with gymnastics.”

The Olympian competed this year with a calf injury after being seen limping on her left ankle, but U.S. coach Cecil Lundy said at the time that the injury was a few weeks old for Biles and was minor, adding that there were no plans to keep her on the sidelines.

Biles finished with a total score of 59.566 points, giving the United States a total of 172.296 points.
