Seth Rogen and Michael Keaton team up King of the Jungleis a comedy based on the “wild true story” of tech mogul John McAfee.
The film will be available to buyers at the upcoming AFM and will feature directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa.I love Philip Morris) is written by Golden Globe and Emmy Award winners Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski.
Joshua Davis Wired Based on the magazine article “John McAfee's Last Stand,” the film tells the story of McAfee (Keaton), the developer of McAfee antivirus software, who cashes out his fortune, leaves civilization, and emigrates to the jungles of Belize, where he builds a Kurtz-like colony of guns, sex, and madness. Wired Magazine researcher Ali Furman (Rogen) takes on a mundane assignment: interviewing McAfee, but upon arriving in Belize he becomes embroiled in McAfee's growing paranoia, murky realities and murder.
King of the Jungle comes from Condé Nast Entertainment, Zaftig Films, MadRiver Pictures, Endurance Media and Epic Entertainment, who joined in co-financing. The film will be produced by Condé Nast Entertainment's Jeremy Steckler, Zaftig's Charlie Gogolak, Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, MadRiver's Marc Boutin, Endurance's Steve Richards and Epic's Joshua Davis.
IMR International will present the project to international buyers at AFM next week; CAA represents U.S. rights.
Rogen is repped by UTA and Principal Entertainment LA, while Keaton is repped by ICM Partners and Ziffren Brittenham.
