John Kerry pointed out how distrust within the country is increasing and discussed how important it is to know the truth going forward.
Kerry, who recently announced he would step down from his position as special presidential envoy for climate, was asked about disinformation in the United States and how it is affecting the country. He said the truth is “at the heart of decision-making” in the United States, and warned that losing the truth would lead to the loss of democracy.
“We have to know the truth,” Kelly said in an interview with former White House press secretary Jen Psaki. “And we don’t have the kind of arbiters and umpires that once existed in our political structure.”
Psaki also accused Russia of interfering in the 2016 presidential election “again”, with Democrats repeatedly claiming that Russia interfered in the 2016 election between then-candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. I asked Mr. Kelly if he thought so. Kerry warned that Russia was “already involved” and that “other countries” were “probably” already involved.
“It's going to be critical that everyone in the media helps the American people as a whole understand disinformation and what's going on,” Kelly said. “It's at a really, really alarming level.”

Kelly is not the only politician concerned about Russian interference in the 2024 presidential election. White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan warned last month that there was “a lot of reason to be concerned” about Russian interference, but acknowledged he “couldn't comment.” For proof. ” Similarly, last year, Clinton claimed that Russia was “adept at interfering” in elections and warned that she would “do it again” if given the chance.
John Podesta, a Democratic strategist, was recently selected to fill the role after Kerry stepped down as the president's special envoy for climate change. However, a letter from House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) and Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) stated that his appointment would require “congressional oversight.” “This appears to be a blatant attempt to circumvent the issue.”
