PARKERSBURG — The mayors of Parkersburg and Vienna will step away from the political stage and take to the theatrical stage with other area leaders for Lip Sync Battle 2024 at the Parkersburg Actors Guild on Saturday.
Parkersburg Mayor Tom Joyce and Vienna Mayor Randy Rapp are among local celebrities of all sizes participating in fundraisers for local nonprofits and the Actors Guild.
Joyce and Rapp are raising money for the North Star Child Advocacy Center.
Mayors of cities, wards, towns and villages will appear. “I am a person who is constantly grieving.” Song written in 1928 and used in the 2000 film “Oh, brother, where are you?” Starring George Clooney, Tim Nelson, John Turturro, and John Goodman.
“It's going to be a good show.” Mr. Rupp said.
“I am a person who is constantly grieving.” Rupp said it's fitting for two mayors.
“I think we can do that pretty well.” said Rupp, who appeared on the local Dancing with the Stars in 2016.
The Blues Brothers were number two on the list.
“I don't know if Randy can do a cartwheel like John Belushi.” Joyce said.
Both mayors said the North Star Child Advocacy Center is a valuable organization to the community. “I believe 100%.” Mr. Rupp said.
Joyce said Barbara Full asked her to appear on the show. Full was an elementary school teacher in Wood County.
“It's hard to say 'no' to someone you loved and was inspired by your past in elementary school.” He said.

Creel and her group perform Go-Go's songs.
“I recently attended the 'Hee Haw' show and had a lot of fun.” Creel said. “As the owner of several small businesses in downtown Parkersburg, it is very important to me to support the community in any way I can.”
Local band Truck 9 will open the show at 5 p.m., and the Lip Sync Battle will begin at 6 p.m. There will be a concession stand with charcuterie plates, cookies, water, beer, wine and more.
