This weekend will be the last day Lee County Republicans can vote early in the presidential primary, as the voting period began last Saturday.
Registered Republican voters in Lee County can vote for who they want to represent their party at 12 different sites from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day through March 16 and before Election Day on March 19. can.
Florida's presidential primary is a closed primary election in which voters can vote for the candidate they want to represent their party in November's presidential election.
As of Thursday afternoon, just under 44,000 votes had been cast, representing 19.53% of Lee County's registered Republican voters. The Lee County Elections Department told Brees that in the 2020 PPP, which included both Republicans and Democrats, Republican turnout was 63,000.
“The selection of Florida's Republican candidates will take place through this election.” Lee County Supervisor of Elections Tommy Doyle said. “No candidate in Florida has officially withdrawn from the ballot, and all votes will be counted as normal. Voters who have not yet voted have until Saturday, March 16th to vote early or We encourage you to vote on Election Day, Tuesday the 19th.”
This year, only registered Republican voters will be able to vote in the March 19 election.
The Florida Democratic Party has nominated Joseph R. Biden Jr. as its only candidate, with no other candidates on the ballot. Therefore, voters who are registered with the Democratic Party, a minor party, or an independent party will not be able to vote in this election.
Requests for mail-in ballots can be made for all elections through 2024. Doyle said he recommends requesting a ballot as insurance.
Florida law requires voters to submit identification with a photo and signature to vote in person. The image identification may not have expired.
