Christopher Biggins has warned others not to take part in Celebrity Big Brother.
The 75-year-old pantomime legend has made a huge comeback in his career by winning I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!. He appeared on the show in 2007, but was removed from the “Celebrity Big Brother'' house in 2016 after making comments deemed offensive, and has now told other celebrities that they should quit the series altogether if they want to further their careers. I'm telling you to avoid it.
He wrote in The Sun's TV Biz column: “I thought it was pretty awful. I don't understand what people are seeing in this film. People are so awful that everyone needs to win and not be themselves. “You're pretending to be a human being. Stop it.” If you want a career, don't touch it with a barge pole. ”
During his brief appearance on the series, the TV star made comments that were deemed anti-Semitic towards former 'X Factor' contestant Katie Weisell, and later aired 44 over his comments about bisexual people. A complaint was lodged with standards commission Ofcom.
Ofcom later clarified Biggins' comments about bisexual people, in which he described them as “people who just don't want to admit they're gay” and joked to Katie about showering. He apologized for what happened, but claimed he didn't mean to hurt anyone.
At the time, he said: “I'm sorry, I'm so sorry about what happened. In fact, most of my friends are Jewish. I've apologized to Big Brother and Katie. I love Jewish people. Look, my best friend is Leslie Joseph. You can't feel more Jewish than that.
“I have a lot of bisexual friends and I'm not a bigot.
“That word isn't in my vocabulary, so it's very sad to be accused of something like that. Katie is a very sensitive girl and has some issues.”
Begins took part in Celebrity Big Brother, which aired on Channel 5, but the format was recently revived by ITV1, with Ibiza Weekender star David Potts winning, Strictly Come Dancing Professional Nikita Kuzmin became the runner-up.
