A progressive group founded by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) says it will call on 146,000 members of the party in Wisconsin to vote “without instruction” in Tuesday's Democratic presidential primary. .
Our Revolution, an independent group from Sanders' 2016 presidential campaign, supported similar efforts in Michigan and Washington. Uncommitted received just over 13% of the vote in Michigan and 9.9% in Washington.
The group sent an email to its members urging them to vote without instructions in support of a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and sign a pledge to “tell Biden to stop the death and destruction now.” He said he plans to receive it.
Our Revolution will also publish a series of social media posts and send text notifications in support of this effort. A spokesperson for the group did not immediately respond to a WisPolitics inquiry about how much money was spent on the campaign.
“Progressive Democrats cannot stand by and watch the White House send hundreds of millions of dollars in arms to Israel to enable Prime Minister Netanyahu's horrific bombing campaign.” “Our Revolution.” said Joseph Guivarghese, executive director of. “We encourage all pro-peace voters in Wisconsin to join our movement and use their votes to pressure President Biden to change course and call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire.”
Wisconsin's unguided efforts through the “Listen to Wisconsin” campaign have led to progressive initiatives such as the Sunrise Movement, the U.S. Campaign for Palestine Rights Action, Voces de la Frontera Action, and Jewish Voices for Peace Action. We have received support from the group.
Wisconsin is targeting 20,000 no-prompt votes, about 15% of the expected turnout, in next Tuesday's primary election in protest of President Joe Biden's handling of the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
The group sent a mailer to 200,000 voters asking them to “Tell the White House to remove me from genocide charges.”
The Mailer is asking voters to tell Washington, D.C., to “do justice” and impose an immediate cease-fire.
