Joe Cunningham, national director of the political group No Labels, said Thursday that the group will not field a third-party presidential candidate because the hero it was looking for “didn't show up.”
Cunningham appeared on Fox News Channel's “Your World with Neil Kabuto” shortly after No Labels was announced and was asked about what went wrong.
“I'll tell you, it's not for lack of trying, that's for sure,” Cunningham said. “And the shorter answer is that No Labels was looking for a hero to handle this ticket, and the hero never showed up.”
The group announced it was ceasing efforts to put together a “unified ticket for the 2024 presidential election,” even after winning the right to vote in more than 20 states.
Cunningham said the group will be “very open and open and honest” with voters and will only move forward if two conditions are met. That's if Americans want an alternative to the two major parties, and if the group can find someone to lead it.
He said Americans “definitely” want another option rather than the two leading candidates, President Biden and former President Trump. Mr Cunningham claimed No Labels was having a hard time finding candidates to support him.
“At the end of the day, we just couldn't find a candidate in this field that we thought had an easy path to victory,” he said.
No Labels' leaders include Sen. Joe Manchin (R-W.Va.), Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R-Va.), and former New Jersey Gov. Chris, a former Republican primary fielder.・Suggested a list of candidates including Mr. Christie (Republican), former United candidate, etc. Nations ambassador Nikki Haley also attended, but ultimately no one took the group up on the offer.
“After all, in this duopoly society it is difficult to fight back against each party, and because the establishment does not reward dissent, it is difficult to find leaders who have the courage to stand up and say, I get it.'' “Okay, we're putting our country first, and it's terrible what the consequences are within our respective parties.''
