As news of iconic DJ Mr. C's passing spread, celebrities are paying tribute and paying tribute to his enduring legacy.
50 Cent posted on social media alongside a photo of the Brooklyn-born DJ (real name Calvin LeBlanc), expressing his condolences to Cee's loved ones.
“[praying hands emoji] May Legend MR rest in peace. C God bless you. My condolences to his family and friends. [dove emoji]” he wrote on Instagram.
“Words are forbidden,” wrote longtime collaborator and friend Big Daddy Kane.
On X/Twitter, Hot 97's Peter Rosenberg wrote: “We have lost an iconic Mr. Cee. I am completely shocked to hear his story yesterday. He was a dear friend to all of us, a wonderful person and one of the most important people of all time. He was one of my most influential DJs. I love you, Cee.”

Mr. C, popularly known as The Finisher, played a pivotal role in the New York hip-hop scene, particularly as a DJ for Big Daddy Kane and as a central figure in the rise of The Notorious B.I.G. Ta. For 21 years, he influenced radio culture at HOT 97, launching the careers of Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, 50 Cent, and more. He continued his career on 94.7 The Block and his Rock The Bells radio on SiriusXM.
