Roberto Cavalli, the eponymous founder of the Italian fashion house whose bold and intricate designs were worn by Taylor Swift, Madonna, Beyonce and other A-listers, has died. He was 83 years old.
The company he founded in 1970 announced the news on Instagram on Friday.
“It is with great sadness that we say today our final farewell to our founder Roberto Cavalli. From humble beginnings in Florence, Roberto has become a globally recognized name, loved and respected by all. “We have successfully achieved this goal,” the statement reads.
“A naturally talented and creative man, Roberto believed that everyone could discover and develop the artist within themselves,” the message continues. “Roberto Cavalli's legacy will live on through his creativity, his love of nature and the family he cherished.”
“Dear Roberto, you may no longer be physically with us, but know that I will always feel your spirit with me,” the brand's creative director Fausto Paglissi said in a statement. “Working for you has been the greatest honor of my career.” It is about continuing the tradition and creating for the brand that was founded with such vision and style. ”
