Former President Donald Trump's campaign is asking the organization responsible for presidential debates to move the debates forward during the campaign after he refused to debate any of his major Republican opponents. .
The Commission on Presidential Debates announced that three meetings would take place between President Trump and President Joe Biden, but Trump campaign co-managers Susie Wiles and Chris Lacivita sent a statement to the commission. According to the letter, the dates they have chosen will involve millions of people meeting. Americans who don't have the benefit of watching the debates before voting.
“As far as the Commission's proposed 2024 calendar goes, it is simply too late,” they wrote.
According to Trump's staff, “more than 1 million Americans likely voted” when the first debate was held on September 16th.
By the time of the next debate, scheduled for October 1, they say that number will be close to 3 million. By the time the final debate is held on October 9th, “approximately 8.7 million Americans will have already voted.”
“Former President Abraham Lincoln and former U.S. Sen. Stephen A. Douglas held seven debates during the historic U.S. Senate runoff in Illinois in 1858. It’s worth it,” Team Trump wrote.
The call for an early debate was followed by a letter signed by 12 major U.S. news organizations calling on both sides to engage in a traditional debate process. Mr. Biden has not announced that he will meet Mr. Trump on stage.

The news outlet wrote that there was “simply no alternative” to the debate.
