Less than a week after sponsoring the Brooklyn Museum's Artist Ball Gala fundraiser, Dior returned to the museum with even more friends in tow. The brand presented its pre-fall collection on Monday night at the Beaux-Arts Museum, which was transformed into a runway with feminist neon art sculptures by artist Claire Fontaine installed around the room.
“I'm so happy to be here. I'm so happy to be able to go home and that Dior came to me,” said Rachel Zegler. “I'm so happy to be in Brooklyn. I'm a born and raised New Yorker, so it's great to be able to live here, work here, and come see the beautiful fashion here.” She chose a suit set of velvet shorts and a jacket. “They actually custom made it for me,” she added. “Because I really wanted it and it didn't fit. But they made it for me, so I'm excited.”
The show became a family-friendly event. Naomi Watts attended with her daughter, Charlize Theron and Mickalene Thomas also attended, and Anya Taylor-Joy brought her husband Malcolm McRae. Other front row guests included Rosamund Pike, who wore sunglasses and greeted Thomas with a hug, Michelle Williams, Alexandra Shipp, Diane Kruger, Anna Diop, Team USA surfer Carissa Moore, and New Jeans. K-pop star Hyerin took a walk. Bring your entourage to the venue.
Singer Tony Yu, who is based in China but lived in New York while attending New York University, was in town only in the evening.
“We are here as representatives of Dior China to see the Fall/Winter 2024 Women's Collection show,” Yu said. “This is very interesting because Dior doesn't do as many shows in New York as they do in Paris. The atmosphere on the streets here is completely different, a different vibe than the romantic aesthetic of Paris,” he added. “So I’m really excited to see what happens today.”
