Travis Kelce has been competing on television throughout his professional career, but now he's preparing to participate in a whole new type of play.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end will make his first television appearance as host of the game show “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” A spin-off of the Fox game show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? for Amazon Prime Video.
The 20-episode project sees Kelce lead a classroom of peers as they help adult contestants answer 11 questions from an entry-level curriculum. But celebrities are not contestants' competitors. They are the players' lifeblood, and perhaps someone they can “cheat,” the press release announcing the show said.
The final questions will be asked at the 6th grade level, and those who answer correctly will receive a prize of $100,000.
“I grew up loving game shows, so I'm excited to follow in the footsteps of so many television icons by hosting my first show, 'Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?'” Kelsey said in a statement. “I’m thrilled to be the host side of the equation here and look forward to seeing how these famous faces continue.”
The series is produced by MGM Alternative, a division of Amazon MGM Studios, and will be available for streaming in more than 240 countries and territories.

And you have some pretty big shoes to fill. The original series, co-created by MGM Alternative general manager Barry Poznick, premiered in 2007 to a record-breaking 27 million viewers and earned the title of No. 1 game show premiere in broadcast television history, according to Prime. I still keep it. It ended in 2011 with over 800 million total viewers in his 3,000 episodes distributed worldwide.
“Replacing the kids with celebrities creates even more roast-like laughs and surprises as contestants get tricked by their famous classmates,” Poznick said in a statement. “And now, with the ultimate class clown, Travis Kelce, as host, viewers should expect the unexpected!”
Previous starring roles on the show include Jeff Foxworthy as the original FOX host, which was revived for one season in 2015. John Cena also hosted Nickelodeon's 2019 reboot for one season.
However, Kelce has no intention of hosting or appearing on a TV show. The three-time Super Bowl champion co-hosts the top-charting podcast with his older brother, recently retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, and has previously hosted “Saturday Night Live.” be. Additionally, in 2016, he appeared on the reality dating series 'Catching Kelce'.
Recently, he has expanded his activities beyond football, including a music festival called Kelce Jam, which the Chiefs star will host on April 28 in Kansas City. Additionally, he is currently producing a documentary called King Pleasure about artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.
