MURRAY, Ky. — Murray State University has awarded Marshall County High School's Izzy Washburn a prestigious Presidential Fellowship scholarship that includes full tuition, housing and board for up to four years at the university.
“We are extremely proud of our Fall 2024 Presidential Fellowship Scholarship recipients. This group represents the very best in academic excellence and scholarly endeavor,” said Murray State University President Dr. Bob Jackson. Because there is,” he said.
Students selected for Presidential Fellowship scholarships complete a rigorous, multi-step application process that includes multiple in-person interviews. While attending Murray State University, scholarship recipients will conduct extensive research projects and serve as leaders in the campus community.
Dr. Warren Edminster, Executive Director of the Honors College, said, “All of our Presidential Fellows have achieved outstanding academic achievement, but they are also recognized based on demonstrated leadership potential and community involvement.'' “They have been selected according to the criteria.”
“Presidential fellows engage in undergraduate research under the guidance of their academic advisors and frequently present their research findings before leaving Murray State,” Edminster added. “In addition to excelling in research, Presidential Fellows consistently serve in leadership roles in student groups, from student government to Greek organizations.”
Incoming first-year students with an ACT composite score of 28 or higher (or SAT verbal and math combined score of 1250 or higher) and a 3.7 GPA on a 4.0 scale are eligible to apply for the Presidential Fellowship Scholarship.
