Donald Trump on Saturday unleashed some of his classic arguments for “total presidential immunity” from all criminal charges as his first criminal trial looms.
President Trump, who is preparing to begin his first criminal trial, has denied falsifying financial records to hide payments to women with whom he had affairs. He also tried to claim presidential immunity in the case, even though his compensation was paid before he took office, but that request was rejected by the court.
Still, days before the trial began, the former president insisted on his social media site Truth Social that the charges against him in all cases should be completely dropped.

“If they strip me of my presidential privileges, they're stripping crooked Joe Biden of his presidential privileges,” Trump wrote in his first post on the matter Saturday.
“Without executive privilege, it would be impossible for the President to properly perform his duties and would place the United States in grave and eternal danger!”
“Remember, if I don't have executive privilege, crooked Joe Biden doesn't either, and he's at fault for a number of real crimes, including massive illegal receipts from foreign countries, including China and Ukraine. Russia will reward Ukraine for the removal of unfriendly prosecutors, allow millions of people to illegally enter and destroy our country, and destroy hundreds of thousands of people in Afghanistan. People have died, many Americans have been stranded, and billions of dollars worth of the best military equipment has been surrendered. “Everywhere on Earth, America's wealth is diminished due to the Green New scam, and much more is happening,” he wrote. “Remember, crooked Joe Biden and his corrupt Justice Department, prosecutors and prosecutors are attacking their political opponents at a level never seen before in this country, and are desperately trying to put 'Trump' behind bars.” He is playing a very dangerous game and the great people of America will not stand for it. Make America Great Again!!!”
Trump went on to say, “The president should be free to decide what's right for our country without undue pressure.”
“If there were no immunity, the presidency as we know it would 'no longer exist,'” he argued. “Many actions in the interest of our country will not be taken, which is certainly not what the Founders had in mind. Legal experts and scholars believe that the president has full presidential privileges. The president must be free to make appropriate decisions. His mind must be clear and he must not be ruled by fear of retaliation! ”
In closing, he said legal scholars are “very grateful for the Supreme Court's decision to grant presidential immunity.”
“Without executive privilege, the president cannot function properly or make decisions in the best interests of the United States. The president is always concerned about the possibility of unjust prosecution and subsequent retaliation. “This could actually lead to blackmail and blackmail of the president.” “They're going to say, 'If you don't do something the way we want, we're going to come after you when you leave office, or sooner.'”
Furthermore, he made this point even more harshly.
“Of course, as President of the United States and Commander in Chief, I was entitled to immunity. I wasn't campaigning, the election was long over, and I was looking for voter fraud. “I figured it out. It's my duty to run our country in other ways,” he said. “If I am not immune, crooked Joe Biden will not be. The border invasion and surrender of Afghanistan alone, not to mention the millions of dollars in foreign funding that went into his ‘pocket’, are the only things that Joe Biden has done with his political rivals.” By weaponizing the Department of Justice against me, I've opened a huge Pandora's box. I've done a great job protecting this country as president. The least I'm entitled to is presidential immunity from the false Biden indictment!''
