how to quit smoking
Here are some ways to help you quit smoking for good and protect yourself from respiratory diseases.
1. Create a list of reasons
If you are a smoker, you probably have many reasons to quit, but have you ever physically written them down?
2. Set the date
Set a “quit date” and stick to it, says Max Karsten, a renowned hypnotherapist.
He says, “If you're quitting on your own, it's a good idea to try smoking a different brand for at least a few days right before quitting completely on your quit day, because smoking a different brand won't be as enjoyable.'' ” he said.
3. Change your diet
US researchers have found that some foods, including meat, can make cigarettes more satisfying.
On the other hand, things like cheese, fruits, and vegetables can have an unpleasant taste.
4. Change your drink
The same researchers who conducted the study above also found that certain drinks can make cigarettes taste better.
They found that soda, alcohol, cola, tea, and coffee all made cigars more appealing.
5. Involve your friends
As the saying goes, there is strength in numbers.
6. Don't let it get cold
Studies show that only 4% of people who quit cold turkey are successful.
However, according to the BBC, using nicotine replacement treatments such as patches or lozenges increases your chances of quitting smoking by 1.5 times.
7. Be active
Scientists say that even 5 minutes of walking or stretching is enough to suppress your appetite.
Gaga previously told HuffPost that she likes to drink a glass of whiskey while puffing, especially while she's working her magic.
“It just frees up my mind a little bit,” she said.
