When you think of celebrities, the word “pro-life” may be the last thing that comes to mind. Yet they are there. All you have to do is look.
Some of them are no surprise, including actors Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, Kirk Cameron (and his sister, Candace Cameron Bure), and professional athlete (football and baseball) Tim Tebow. Maybe.
Therefore, I did not list them.
But the people who made the list are ones you may have never thought of, and some may completely surprise you.
Newsmax's top 10 list in alphabetical order.
Justin Bieber:
Is the 30-year-old pop singer-songwriter pro-life? Are you from Canada already? It could not be? mistaken.
In a 2011 interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Bieber said, “I don't really believe in abortion. I don't think so.” [an embryo] I am a human. It's like killing a baby,'' he no doubt heard from his mother, Patti Mallette.
When she learned of Justine's pregnancy at age 17, she was under pressure to find the easy way out: an abortion. Mallett told Today host Kathie Lee Gifford that she “knew she couldn't do it. She knew she had to keep him.”
“And do your best. I – you know, I didn't know what to do. But I just knew that I couldn't do it. I couldn't have an abortion. I had to do my best.” I had to do it.'' I decided to do whatever it took to see what I could do. ”
Bieber's wife does not share that belief. She announced her pro-abortion status after Roe v. Wade was dismissed in 2022.
Andrea Bocelli:
Like Bieber, the mother of world-famous classical tenor Bocelli was under pressure to abort, but in her case the pressure was even stronger because her own doctor was applying the pressure.
They were worried that her child would be born with a disability.
She refused, and her son Andrea was born with congenital glaucoma. Although he is now completely blind, he loves life and wows audiences around the world with his powerful voice. He also admires his mother's decision and is 100% pro-life as such.
Eleven years ago, Bocelli wowed Easter Mass attendees at St. Patrick's Church in Miami Beach with a performance singing the Glory of God.
Celine Dion:
Before we start here, try saying the vowels of Celine Dion's name out loud without laughing.
The French-Canadian singer's mother also considered abortion and consulted her parish priest about the matter. She was already overwhelmed with 13 children. Her priest forced her to terminate her abortion, and the singer with her wonderful voice was born again.
The fact that Dion's life was saved in the womb inspired her to take on her own life and family.
She told People magazine in 2001, “My success is my family. My life is being a mother. That's what I enjoy the most. That's the greatest reward for me. I'm going to take a chance with my music. I'm not going to take a risk with my family. ”
Kelsey Grammer:
Grammer, an actor best known for his role as Dr. Frasier Crane on the sitcom Cheers, which he carried over into the spinoff Frasier, has never been shy about his pro-life stance.
“It's a bit disingenuous to call something reproductive rights when there is clearly a choice long before a baby is conceived,” he told the Times in 2016. “If someone has to die as a result of rape, we should kill them.” Rapists are not fetuses. ”
He has also been photographed wearing a pro-life T-shirt.
Kathy Ireland:
Supermodel Ireland's career took off in her teens, and she quickly became the cover girl for magazines like Cosmopolitan, Vogue, and of course, Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue.
At the time, Ireland, like most other companies in the industry, considered itself pro-choice.
Her perspective on the subject changed when she began looking into the science of conception.
“What I learned is that a new life is born at the moment of conception,” Ireland told Mike Huckabee in a 2010 interview. “The DNA, the genetic blueprint is there, the gender is determined, the blood type is determined, the unique set of fingerprints is there.”
Jack Nicholson:
The actor and filmmaker, a three-time Academy Award winner, is known for his memorable performances in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, A Few Good Men, and The Shining. I am.
Like some of the celebrities mentioned above, his mother was also under great pressure to have an abortion.
Although she gave up at the last minute, because of that decision Nicholson has entertained generations of movie fans and has always remained pro-life.
“I'm very much against my constituency when it comes to abortion because I'm actively against abortion,” he explained his position on the issue. “I have no right to hold any other opinion. My only feeling is literally gratitude for my life.”
Chuck Norris:
A Hollywood tough guy, martial arts enthusiast, and star of the TV series Walker, Texas Ranger, he was a Democrat like most Hollywood types. However, when the Democratic Party became too liberal, he switched to the Republican Party.
One issue of particular importance is unrestricted abortion.
“This is a violation of the primary purpose of government, the protection of innocent life,” he said, quoting Thomas Jefferson, who wrote in 1809: “The protection of innocent life… The first and only legitimate purpose is to care for, not destroy, happiness.” of good government. ”
Martin Sheen:
The father of actors Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez is known for his blockbuster performances over the years in films such as Apocalypse Now and Badlands.
But his closest role may be as Liberal Democratic President Josiah “Jed” Bartlett on the NBC television series “The West Wing.”
Sheen considers himself a liberal, except on the issue of abortion.
His commitment to this issue is so strong that Feminists for Life named him a “Pro-Life Man to Watch” in 2001, and he was recently the subject of a heated interview with Life News.
Ben Stein:
An attorney, author, and commentator, Stein began his career as a speechwriter for Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. But he's probably best known as a comedian and actor (who can forget his hilariously deadpan performance in Ferris Bueller's Day Off?).
But above all, he is hailed as an “apostle of life.”
“Speaking up to save lives requires not only common sense but also courage,” said Donald DeMarco, a senior fellow at Human Life International.
“Ben Stein not only has the courage to stand up to Hollywood, but he also has the common sense to express society's most fundamental values in easy-to-understand terms.”
Janine Turner:
Actress Turner has had an extensive film career and is perhaps best known for her television roles in Northern Exposure and Friday Night Lights, but she has also championed conservative causes, including the right to life.
“If the federal government is going to fund pro-abortion groups, it should fund anti-abortion groups as well,” she said. “A republic must have the freedom to seek the truth. Where is the justice for the unborn child?”
She also expanded her activities into acting, accepting a role in the 2018 film Gosnell: The Trial of America's Greatest Serial Killer.
The film depicted Kermit Gosnell, an abortion provider who was convicted of killing three unborn children and manslaughter of a woman who died during an abortion.
