As the countdown to the Met Gala continues, celebrities are doing everything they can to make their faces look as perfect as couture.
New York City's Neinstein Plastic Surgery has become the go-to for those looking to shine on the red carpet, and I stopped by the practice's plush offices above Bergdorf Goodman to see what the stars have to say. I had the opportunity to try two non-surgical treatments.
First? The $400 Aquagold Facial promises serious results within 30 minutes, making it the perfect treatment to squeeze in on your lunch break.
“The Aqua Gold Facial infuses your skin with vitamin C, vitamin A, and hyaluronic acid to give you a glow with no downtime,” nurse Tara Adashev told me.
Aquagold is also sometimes referred to as a “Botox facial” because it pushes neuromodulators into the skin, but if you're scared of injections (or facial muscles freezing), there's no need to worry. The treatment was relatively painless, even without the use of numbing cream.
“Botox goes directly into the muscle, so it's injected a little deeper into the skin,” explains nurse Tara.[Aquagold] It's so superficial that you can see its brilliance right away. ”
The results are also temporary (“several weeks,” the nurse estimates), making it perfect for scheduling ahead of a big event like the Met Ball.
Next, nurse Tara treated my face with the Lutronic Ultra Laser. She says that pairing it with aqua gold “helps brighten her skin from within.” Because it is non-ablative, meaning it does not damage the top layer of the skin, it has less downtime than other lasers on the market.
“Creates tiny microchannels in the skin. It destroys pigmentation from multiple causes such as freckles, red spots, acne scars, and even active acne, and shrinks pores while stimulating collagen to brighten the skin. ” she said and added. Recently, the device was used to reduce the appearance of scars on Teresa Giudice's daughter Gia's legs.
The Lutronic Ultra Laser, which costs $699 per treatment, left my face warm and felt a little “spicy.” The next day, as my skin started to heal, I noticed that it felt like sandpaper and was a little faded, just like my nurse Tara said. Both side effects can be minimized with proper aftercare.
“You want to stay hydrated. No makeup, retinol, toner, lots of SPF, and no sun exposure for 72 hours,” she says.
Unlike the immediate results you can expect after Aqua Gold, this laser treatment is best booked at least a week before your big event. That means the stars are likely booking right now.
And leading up to the first Monday in May, famous women won't be the only ones joining Dr. Ryan Neinstein's practice. Nurse Tara says about 40 percent of her patients are men, and most choose laser or Botox.
“We definitely have some very large males.” [following] I want to keep it shiny and fresh,” she says.
Which procedures have become less popular?
“People definitely follow celebrity trends, so fillers are on the decline once people start dissolving them,” notes Tara, a nurse.
“I think people are looking for maintenance and they're also looking for volume replacement. They don't want to make their faces bigger, they have big cheekbones or big jaws, so it's a very natural approach at the moment. ”
But regardless of the desired outcome, Neinstein Plastic Surgery “couldn't be busier” at this time.
“We are open the previous weekend as well.” [of the Met Gala] If you want to come in for that special glow, please come two weeks in advance,” nurse Tara tells me.
