Since 2012, French actor Omar Sy has lived in Los Angeles. His one of his homes features a vast villa with 5 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, an outdoor pool and a Jacuzzi. With such extravaganza, perhaps it's no surprise that See, known to British audiences for his role, would appear. x men, Jurassic World and Lupin – Rarely returns to the Republic. But he is here this week to promote his book and is using his time in a TV studio to warn the good people of France about the dangers of voting for the “far right”.
But first, as befits a billionaire actor living in a very large house in La La Land, See began his rant by lamenting the erosion of the Republic's principles of liberty, equality, and fraternity. And why did this happen? Because of “people spewing hatred and trying to revive the France of the past with very fixed ideas”. Sy continued: “Those who have promoted these ideas in the past have taken France to a very dark place.” I'm just telling you to be careful because it affects all of us. ”
Although he did not name names, he had in mind all right-wing parties. She was referring to a recent tweet by Marion Maréchal, deputy leader of Eric Zemmour's Reconquist party, asking: “Where's your mother?” Her question was directed to a photo of a baby posted by two gay men. Despite her surrogacy being illegal in France, Maréchal has been accused of “homophobia” by gay government officials.
See also indirectly attacked the French police, saying, “When I talk about Adama or Neher, it's for the group, it's for all of us.” Neher, a 17-year-old with a long rap sheet, was shot and killed by police last summer as he sped away from a vehicle checkpoint. Adama Traore died in police custody of heatstroke in 2016, but his family disputes this theory.
Sai could have checked one or two other names if he wanted. Thirteen-year-old Samara refused to wear her headscarf, so she was beaten unconscious by a classmate outside school last month. Or Shamseddin, who was beaten to death by the brothers of the girl he was having an affair with. But he did not do so because it would go against Mr. See's assessment that France is a country dominated by far-right politicians and police.
His remarks were praised by the far left. “Omar Sy, thank you for those words. And your support in the face of a racist group,” tweeted MP Manuel Bompard, campaign manager for La France Insoumise (LFI).
This week, one of the party's leaders, Mathilde Panot, is under investigation for allegedly “apologizing for terrorism.” Last week, another party figure running in the European elections, Rima Hassan, was investigated on similar charges. Both charges relate to Hamas's October 7 statement regarding its attack on Israel.
Another LFI lawmaker, Daniel Obono, described Hamas as a “resistance movement” in October. Because of these comments, the party was excluded from a memorial service in February commemorating 42 French-Israeli citizens killed by Hamas.
Delegates attended the national rally, and Serge Klarsfeld, one of France's most prominent Holocaust activists, spoke of his satisfaction that the party had moved on from the anti-Semitism of its founder Jean-Marie Le Pen. Ta. In contrast, he expressed deep despair that LFI had become the inheritor of this prejudice.
Like London, parts of Paris have become dangerous for Jews due to widespread anti-Semitism. Earlier this month, a Jewish woman was raped by a man claiming revenge against Palestine.
These facts seem to have passed Sy. As well as another related issue, I spoke on the eve of the second round of the presidential election two years ago.
I explained that the main reason French men and women vote for the National Assembly is not because they are racist or anti-Semitic, but because they are worried about the future. More and more people are struggling to pay their utility bills, clothe their children, and feed their families. Times are difficult and they feel that successive governments have ignored them. They don't like to be preached to or lectured by stars of stage, film and sports, as was the case two years ago.
Poverty is not a problem that Sai and his ilk have to deal with. That he is a great actor and a blessed human being was proven in 2022 when he arrived on a private jet to the Cannes Film Festival. This was a bit of a mixed bag for the actor, who has spoken in the past about the need to change people's behavior in the face of the climate crisis.
Gone are the days when lovers and celebrities could woo little people. We have seen through their attitude and are tired of it. Private Keep your thoughts private on her jet.
