The Commission on Presidential Debates will proceed on its original schedule despite requests from former President Trump's campaign to hold the event earlier.
The committee announced its schedule last November, but the Trump campaign is urging organizers to propose earlier and more frequent debates to outdo Biden on stage.
“CPD standards are […] It will take effect in early September. The commission will then extend debate invitations to qualified candidates,” CPD told FOX News Digital.

The commission added: “The CPD is progressing with production and broadcast plans for the four debate venues, as also announced on 20 November 2023.”
Radio personality Howard Stern gave an interview to Biden last week in which he confirmed his intention to debate his Republican opponent.
Biden responded, “I'll be somewhere, I don't know when.” “I'm happy to discuss him.”
President Trump slammed the comment and insisted he was willing to discuss it at any time and under any circumstances.

“We all know he doesn't mean it, but just in case he does, I'll say that old Fighters expression: anywhere, anytime, anywhere,'' the ex-former said. the president wrote on Truth Social.
Earlier this year, the Trump campaign sent a letter to the committee requesting that the debate date be expanded and moved forward.
President Trump said, “The committee must move up the proposed 2024 debate date to ensure more Americans have ample opportunity to see the candidates before they begin voting.'' “We will advocate for more debates to be added in addition to the proposed dates.” Advisors Susie Wiles and Chris Lacivita wrote in the letter:

Ahead of the interview with Stern, the Biden campaign had been tight-lipped about the president's desire to debate, characterizing Trump's emphasis on the issue as hopeless.
“If I were him, I would want to debate,” Biden told reporters in Nevada earlier this year. “He has nothing else to do.”
The first presidential debate is scheduled for September 16th at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. The second debate will be held on October 1st in Petersburg, Virginia, and the third debate will be held on October 9th in Salt Lake City. The vice presidential debate is scheduled for September 25th in Easton, Pennsylvania.
