Senator Elizabeth Dole was honored as a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom at the White House on May 3.
President Joe Biden named 19 recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom on May 3, according to the White House.
The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest civilian award given to individuals who have made exemplary contributions to the prosperity, values and security of the United States, world peace, or other important social, public, or private endeavors. It's an honor.
These Americans built teams, coalitions, movements, organizations, and businesses that shaped America for the better. They are the pinnacle of leadership in their respective fields. Throughout their careers, they have consistently demonstrated the power of community, hard work, and service.
According to the White House, Sen. Elizabeth Dole has served the nation as a pioneering U.S. senator, secretary of transportation, secretary of labor, and president of the American Red Cross. She leads by example through the Foundation's support of military caregivers and their families.
