Opening shot: We will briefly introduce the cast with lots of highlights. South Korea's super wealthyOne of them said, “I'm one of the ultra-rich 1 percent in Singapore.''
Summary: super rich korean ” is a reality series that follows five ultra-wealthy people living at least part-time in Seoul. His three MCs, BamBam, Cho Se-ho, and Mimi, sit and react to what they see, mainly watching with open mouths how much money these five of them spend on things. I am.
First, let me introduce all five cast members. Yoo Hee-ra, also known as Yoo Allen, owns her entire first floor of her five-story villa owned by her family, and her dressing room is larger than her bedroom. She is a brand ambassador for a Korean haute couture brand, and she has the philosophy that “fashion is pain”, and once she wears a dress, she puts it away in her own collection and she never wears it again. She is currently attending Cornell University and she has been studying abroad in America since middle school, so she speaks English better than Korean.
Noor Naim is an Iranian-American influencer with over 50 million users across all social media platforms. She is thinking of moving to Seoul, but her fashion weakness is handbags. She has hundreds of them, all from top designers. David Yong is the aforementioned person who is said to be among the top 1% of Singapore's ultra-rich people. He is in the financial industry and is part of a family that has been wealthy for generations. He thinks about everything that stands out, not only in fashion, but also in his own behavior in general.
Teodoro Marani is from Italy. Although his family runs the Henry Beglin fashion brand, he decided to live independently in South Korea. Although he also works in the family business, his main occupation is as a chef and he makes a living from his own money. Kim Anna, who appears briefly in the first episode, is a Pakistani aristocrat.
In the first episode, Noor visits Allen's villa and sees her vast collection of gowns and dresses. Allen isn't as into bags as Noor, so they're kept in a corner, but she still has some pretty rare finds. Teodoro visits David's apartment and notices the branded extravagance of the high-rise penthouse, but has no idea why David has a bill-counting machine on the living room floor.
Which show do you remember? format of super rich korean Essentially, real housewife series. The closest Netflix analog we can think of is: bling empire.
Our take: At first glance; super rich korean It doesn't really stand out compared to other shows about super-rich people acting like super-rich people in a city that basically exists as a backdrop for the super-rich's activities. I'm sure this show doesn't get much deeper than this group interacting with each other and showing them their various flashy homes, fashions, private planes, etc. There's probably a personality clash as well, but we feel that's not what the show is about.
Perhaps that's due to the presence of a panel of MCs, a staple of East Asian reality shows, who are there to comment on what they see, as if they were viewers sitting on their couches. They really are the funniest and most interesting part of the show. Because while they're famous and can afford it, they're not as wealthy as the five cast members, and their reactions to such ostentation are the funniest.
What is interesting is that only one of the five cast members is Korean. Was that something the producers did on purpose, or just couldn't find enough ostentatiously wealthy young Koreans to fill out the cast? There are many Koreans who have been wealthy for generations, but none are as flashy as the five chosen by the producers.
Gender and skin: Wealth porn, but that's it.
Parting shot: Teodoro looked at the catering menu available to residents of David's luxury building and noticed that a fried egg costs 19,000 won (about $15). The MCs were shocked at the idea of paying that much for a fried egg.
Sleeper Star: Cho Se-ho is the most interesting of the three MCs. For example, he tells his two other MCs that what he cared about most in fashion was “how big” the clothing brand was.
The most pilot-like line: Yes, we know how beautiful the boxes containing designer gear can be. But we saw boxes stacked in both Allen and David's living spaces in some kind of organized display. If it were our house, we'd be tripped over and knocked over by cats on a regular basis.
Our call: Let's stream. super rich korean is a fairly innocuous series, with half-hour episodes designed to show only the flashy bits. You have to be in the right mood, but if you are, there should be enough in there to keep your interest.
