Judging by many of the hand-picked guests, it looks like the majority of the A-Team seriously ditched the “garden” theme at today's Met Gala.
Like any established style commentator, I love observing the pieces at the Met Gala, held at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art on the first Monday of May every year since 1948.
But to be honest, I don't understand why they stick to the theme so often. This year's work: Inspired by J.G. Ballard's short story of the same name, “The Garden of Time” is a subject that is quite diverse and open to interpretation.

The gala, a major fundraiser for the museum's Costume Institute, has become an annual event in May. And naturally, it attracts the attention of all media and the public.
While we don't necessarily want to see simple, cute little floral dresses or baby breath splattered in the hair of Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, Kim Kardashian, Kendall, and Kylie Jenner, this year's official dress code is It goes further (please give me a break!). Comes with additional themes. Adding to the confusion, the ball is also celebrating the Costume Institute's latest exhibition, “Sleeping Beauty: Fashion's Awakening.”
On reflection, it's time to do away with the esoteric and self-centered themes (which, I might add, are a bit difficult in the world of fashion) and make the whole extravagant evening sound just a little bit more extravagant. I think it is.
These complex themes leave room for interpretation, but they are also so over-the-top that they are difficult to summarize.
There is certainly a world of wild, wonderful, and sometimes harrowing interpretations out there, and I'm here for them all!
Names like Zendaya (who gave us two garden outfit vibes), Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and none other than Australian hunk Chris Hemsworth are among this year's couture outfits, along with Vogue's maiden Anna Wintour. Joined the vent committee.
Even Chris had no idea what was going on when he was interviewed on the red carpet (floral print, I think) before the event.
But once his divine wife, Elsa Pataky, explained the deal to him, he dutifully went for it and was enthusiastic about the whole thing.
One thing I took away from this year's gala
I could go on and on about all the guests and give individual style verdicts, but I think there's only one real takeaway this year.
Let them all become crazy couture cats and wear whatever they want. Regardless of the theme, I know it's going to be great.

Yeah. Perhaps it's time to ditch the theme and leave it to the kids' parties or the quirky “costume” parties you and I throw.
Garden-themed teams did the majority of the lawn mowing this year, so let's let the Met Gala A-Team dress up and go wild with their fashion.
