YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) — Grafton High School senior Hannah Hong has been named a U.S. Presidential Scholar.
Hong is one of only 161 students in the nation and six in Virginia to earn this prestigious honor. She was named a Presidential Arts Scholar.
“The 161 high school seniors selected for the 60th Anniversary of U.S. Presidential Scholars represent the best of our nation's schools and offer hope for a bright future for our nation,” Miguel Cardona, the U.S. Secretary of Education, said in a statement. I'll give it to you.'' “On behalf of President Biden, I am pleased to celebrate their accomplishments and encourage our scholars to continue to aim high and embrace opportunities to uplift and lead others.”
Founded in 1964, the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program selects recipients based on a combination of excellence in academic, artistic, and technical education, essays, evaluations, and a “demonstrated commitment to community service and leadership.” .
