The goat himself was in the house.
Wayne Gretzky was at the Garden for Monday's Game 5 game between the Rangers and Hurricanes. He would like to see his former team shut out the second round series, but instead hoped to watch Carolina score four unanswered goals in the third period en route to a 4-1 victory. . .
Gretzky smiled and thanked the fans when he saw himself on the video scoreboard in the first period.
He wasn't the only former Blueshirt star to check in with the team.
Brandon Dubinsky, who played with the organization from 2005 to 2012 and scored 81 goals and 213 points in 393 games as a fan favorite, returned to MSG for the playoffs.
It wasn't just the Rangers.
Jets defensive tackle Solomon Thomas, who just attended minicamp, was there to give Gang Green support to the Blueshirts.
Giants sackman Kayvon Thibodeau himself got MSG into a frenzy by chugging beer, throwing the first punch, and waving a towel while appearing on the scoreboard.
Former Mets closer John Franco couldn't convey any of the Amazine magic from his seat in the stands.
As always, there was plenty of star power at the Garden, with actor, podcaster, and huge hockey fan Will Arnett pulling double duty in a Knicks T-shirt.
Arnett was seen sharing a laugh with “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm, a hockey enthusiast just a few seats away.
In front of them was “Kyle XY” actress Jaimie Alexander, who proudly represented behind the Carolina bench in a blue Rangers hoodie. She was present for the double overtime game of Game 2.
