Joe Biden is really delusional.
The president appears to think it's a problem to discuss his perceived Republican presidential rival, Donald Trump. good idea.
On Wednesday morning, when Biden challenged President Trump to acquiesce to the game, the former president quickly responded by saying he was ready to “go wild.”
Please bring some popcorn.
Two debates are scheduled, the first of which is scheduled for June 27 in Atlanta. The next one will be in September.
In a video in which he appeared quite angry and narrow-eyed, Biden encouraged Trump (without needing any reprimand) by telling him, “Good luck, buddy.” He also said that Trump “Free on Wednesdays” When the court is not in session.
Late last month, in an interview with radio host Howard Stern, Mr. Biden made the somewhat surprising remark, “I'm happy to be able to debate Mr. Biden,'' which sparked the debate.
Shortly after, Trump responded: “Crooked Joe Biden just announced he's ready to debate! We all know he doesn't mean it, but just in case he does, anywhere, anytime, anywhere. I will say that.”
Until then, Mr. Biden and his campaign had been vague about accepting Mr. Trump's call for a debate.
Good luck, Biden. You will need it.
In any case, I don't see how any of this will benefit Biden.
The 81-year-old president has visibly aged in front of the nation over the past four years, with a string of gaffes and uncomfortable moments in recent months. The majority of voters are concerned about his age.
Biden avoided criminal charges earlier this year for mishandling classified documents because the special counsel said, “At trial, Biden was as sympathetic and well-meaning as he was in our interview.'' This is because the judge judged that there is a high possibility that he will appear before a jury as a person. A man with a bad memory. ”
Biden gets a pass:The special counsel called Biden an “elderly man with a poor memory.” So is he a Democrat?
If Mr. Biden can't even read a teleprompter successfully, it's hard to see how high-stakes, ad-hoc interactions with someone like Mr. Trump could benefit him.
Trump has many flaws, but he is an entertainer and knows how to engage an audience. Sparring is his specialty.
Not so much for Biden.
And although he's 77 years old, Trump doesn't show his age quite like Biden (and polls confirm that many Americans agree).
Early debates suggest trouble for Biden campaign
Despite the Biden campaign's optimism, the fact that the incumbent campaign is favoring a much earlier debate than usual suggests that they recognize that the president is struggling in the polls. It shows that you are doing it.
Mr. Biden has made another gaffe.Trump's trial drama is sordid, but don't miss Biden's missteps and strange stories
Presidential debates typically don't take place until the fall. For example, in 2020, Biden and Trump met for the first time in late September.
The presidential debate strategy is a strong sign that Biden recognizes the need to quickly turn things around.
A recent poll by The New York Times, Siena College, and The Philadelphia Inquirer found Trump's popularity among registered voters in five of the six battleground states: Michigan, Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. He is leading Biden. The only state Biden won over Trump was Wisconsin.
None of this is good news for Biden. They probably thought they could just watch Trump crumble through various criminal trials and slide to victory.
But that's not happening. And it hasn't helped that there are rifts within Biden's Democratic Party over his handling of the Israel-Hamas war.
Mr. Biden may have fulfilled his wish to debate Mr. Trump. But that won't help his re-election dreams come true.
