There's something special about owning a home on a cape and island.
It's so special that Mindy Kaling recently called it her dream retirement, saying, “I'm retiring to a huge classy complex on Martha's Vineyard, where I get to see Ted Danson and Mary at least a few times a week.'' He envisioned writing plays and drinking wine with Steenburgen.
But she's not the only one with celebrity support. Same goes for Danson and Steenburgen.
Many world-class celebrities live here at least part of the time. A perk of being rich and famous is owning multiple homes, but the fact that these celebrities chose to own a home on the Cape should say something good for the Bay State, right?
Dan Aykroyd
The Saturday Night Live alum lives on Martha's Vineyard in Chilmark. According to the Martha's Vineyard Times, Aykroyd, who has appeared on Ghostbusters and The Blues Brothers, is occasionally involved in town politics, and in 2020 wrote a letter supporting local projects to Martha's Vineyard. It was sent to the committee.

Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen
The actor couple also live in Chilmark near Aykroyd. Danson is best known for his work on The Good Place and Cheers. Steenburgen won the award for his Oscar-winning performance in Melvin and Howard. Their 1995 wedding reportedly took place at their Martha's Vineyard home, and they occasionally perform to help the island.

Spike Lee
The famed director, known for hard-hitting films like “Do the Right Thing,'' is also a Martha's Vineyard resident and lives in Oak Bluffs, where he built a home in 1992. Lee's backyard is adjacent to Farm Neck Golf Club, which Lee once told Time magazine. I cut through his front yard to talk to former President Barack Obama on the golf course.
harry connick jr.
The singer, pianist, actor, and composer is also part of Cape Cod's celebrity community and owns a summer house in Chatham. They spent some time in the area as a family before purchasing a home.
“We had such a good time that we thought it might be a fun place to spend the summer. We ended up staying, and it's not hard to find a reason to stay. It's a world-class place. “It's a beautiful area, and we've been through a lot of good times over there,” he told the Cape Cod Times in 2018.

The “You're So Vain” singer owns a home on Martha's Vineyard that she bought with ex-husband James Taylor. She is now the sole owner, and her ex-husband has moved across state.
robbie benson
Benson, a former teen idol turned Disney voice actor, lives in Chatham with her family. She is best known for providing the voice of the Beast in the Disney film Beauty and the Beast and its spin-off films, but she has also appeared in films such as Ice Castles, Billie Joe, and Chosen. He has also appeared in “Lesshisha''.

farrelly brothers
Bobby and Peter Farrelly, a Rhode Island couple, also own several homes on the Cape. As a duo, they wrote, directed and produced “Something About Mary,'' “Dumb and Dumber,'' “Shallow Hal,'' “Kingpin,'' “Stuck on You,'' and “Fever Pitch.'' did. In recent years, Peter has done some work on his own, including co-writing and directing Green Book, which won two Oscars, and was one of the directors on Lucky Hank.
Elin Hildebrand
No wonder the “Queen of Beach Reading” lives on the coast. Novelist Hildebrand made her home base on Nantucket Island, and most of her stories are based there. Her novels frequently appear on the New York Times bestseller list, including “Hotel Her Nantucket.”
