The Dallas Stars and Dallas Mavericks are on the brink of making it to the Western Conference Finals in their respective sports.
This is the first time in more than 20 years that the Stars and Mavs will play in the second round of the playoffs in the same season.
All these extra games and all those extra people are a bonus not only for Dallas sports fans, but also for all the businesses at Victory Park, which is right next to the American Airlines Center.
“The gift of the playoffs is just that: a gift,” said Nick Villarreal, vice president of operations for Black Tap Craft Burgers and Beer.
Black Tap Dallas opened last August, but has long had locations in other areas including Las Vegas, New York, Disneyland and Dubai.
Villarreal said he can't help but be aware of AAC's event schedule, where his restaurant is Black Tap's caddy corner. To accommodate the approximately 30-50% increase in business that these events bring to your restaurant, you will need to have additional staff on shifts.
“It's really great to see because there's a flow of people who really love this area and are coming to this area,” Villarreal said. “They see us, they may not try us for the first time, but I speak for the entire community of all the restaurants right down the street from here. They all see this huge increase, especially when the AAC starts to fill up. It's so exciting for the Stars and the Mavs.”
The Stars, who lead the series 3-2, are on the road to Colorado on Friday night.
The Mavericks also have a 3-2 lead over the Oklahoma City Thunder and will play in AAC play Saturday night.
