Trump demands drug test from Biden before first presidential debate

President Donald Trump on Friday demanded that Joe Biden take a drug test ahead of two presidential debates in which both candidates have agreed to participate.

The former president cited the current president's State of the Union address in March when calling for drug testing, claiming that Biden was “flying like a kite” when he gave the speech.

“I just want to debate this guy, but you know, I'm also going to demand a drug test,” Trump told Republicans in a speech at the Republican Dinner in St. Paul, Minnesota.

“I don't. No, really. I don't want him to come like the State of the Union. He was high as a kite,” the would-be Republican presidential nominee added.

“We're going to require a drug test,” Trump reiterated, without saying whether he would be tested himself.

The Biden campaign did not immediately respond to The Post's request for comment.

Biden, 81, spoke fairly quickly and loudly during his long speech.

Rep. Greg Murphy, RN.C., co-chair of the Republican Medical Association, argued after the speech that Biden “must have been fooled by something that day.”

Trump, 77, had previously asked Biden to take a drug test.

He claimed that Biden's debate performance in the 2020 Democratic primary was “uneven” and said he would “strongly call for” pre-debate drug testing in the 2020 general election.

Neither candidate took drug tests before the two 2020 debates.

Trump and Biden agreed this week to hold debates on June 27th (CNN) and September 10th (ABC).

“It's going to be fair, I think it's going to be fair enough,” President Trump said Friday of the network hosting the debate.
