Chad's Prime Minister Success Masra announced on Wednesday that he had submitted his resignation, just over two weeks after losing the presidential election to military junta chief Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno.

“I have just submitted my resignation and that of the transitional government, which has become irrelevant due to the end of the presidential election,” Masra said on his Facebook page in a message confirmed to AFP by his team. .
The move is also in accordance with the constitution, he added.
Deby, 40, was declared interim president in April 2021 by a military junta of 15 generals after his father, iron-fisted president Idriss Deby Itno, was shot dead by rebels after three decades in power.

According to the final results, he won the presidential vote on May 6th with 61% of the vote.
Mathra, also 40, who was a fierce opponent of Debi before becoming prime minister four months ago, won 18.5% of the vote but contested the result.
He claimed victory in the vote, which his party called a “masquerade” and which international rights groups said was neither credible nor fair.
