MORGANTOWN — A national firm with more than 50 years of experience has partnered with the West Virginia University Board of Trustees to select a new university president.
The board announced its selection of Wittkieffer during a special meeting Wednesday, after handling more than 145 presidential and chancellor selections over the past five years.
A search committee made up of board members and WVU staff reviewed 11 proposals from executive search firms submitted through an RFP process and interviewed four of them before deciding on WittKieffer.
“The committee was particularly impressed with the staff’s expertise and experience, their demonstrated deep knowledge and understanding of West Virginia University, and their implementation plan, which focuses on the importance of strategic communications.” “We are pleased to be working with the Board of Trustees to ensure that our students receive the care they need,” said Dr. Patrice Harris, chair of the Board's Interim Governance Committee. “We look forward to a collaborative and productive partnership with the WittKieffer team.”
The committee will meet June 6 to continue the process of vetting candidates for the Presidential Search Committee and will present a slate of candidates to the Board of Trustees for review and approval during its regular meeting on June 21.
The listening sessions schedule will begin in July and extend through mid-September.
“We want to maximize opportunities for faculty, staff and students to participate and have their say.” Harris said. “The remainder of the timeline remains unchanged.”
