Sofia Vergara has learned to embrace the changes that come with aging and even find ways to slow them down.
In an interview with Allure magazine published Tuesday, the “Griselda” star and producer got candid about the cosmetic surgery procedures she's had and those she plans to have in the future.
“I believe in all of it,” Vergara, 51, said when the topic of laser skin resurfacing and skin peels came up. “I think you should take advantage of everything that's out there. I mean, if you're concerned about aging. There's nothing wrong with not caring about it. It's not the end of the world. But if you are concerned, there's so much out there now.”
The Toti Beauty Brand founder continued: “When I'm ready, I'll get as many plastic surgery procedures done as I can. If I had more time off, I'd already be doing a bunch of stuff. But being in front of the camera, I can't do anything and then stay home and recuperate for weeks.”

Vergara, who played Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on Modern Family for 11 seasons from 2009 to 2020, admitted that it's hard to tell the difference between her look in those early seasons and now, more than a decade later.
“I know I'm getting older,” she told Allure magazine. “I'm 51 and still healthy and I'm very active, so I shouldn't complain. I still look in the mirror and see a beautiful person, but sometimes I'm like, 'Who are you?' I'm still happy with the way things are. I'm just learning to accept that that's not me. It's the new me.”

Why it's important for celebrities to be honest about plastic surgery
Experts previously told USA Today that while there's nothing shameful about having plastic surgery, it's important for celebrities to be transparent about the procedures they've had to avoid creating unrealistic expectations.
Daniel Barrett, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, told USA Today in 2021, “A lot of celebrities are naturally beautiful, but they also have cosmetic surgery, and I think it would be unethical to not be honest about that because of the attention they're getting.”
“They benefit from being famous and have a moral obligation to be transparent about everything they've done to achieve a certain look.”
When these influencers knowingly mislead their young, impressionable fans, they can perpetuate unrealistic beauty standards and send the dangerous message that fuller lips and thinner noses can be achieved naturally.
But in reality, these “perfect” looks may have been engineered by nutritionists, Photoshop, and even plastic surgeons.
“The psychological pressure to meet societal beauty standards can be difficult to deal with, especially as it can make you feel like you're never good enough,” said Naomi Torres-McKee, research director at the Mental Health Alliance, calling such beauty comparisons “an unfair competition that you can't win.”
She added that “it takes a certain level of vulnerability” to admit to having cosmetic surgery.
“It's a courageous act that could potentially help others,” she said.
