NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Surveillance footage from an Ocean View business shows a car crashing into the building multiple times.
According to police, the unusual incident happened around 7:50 a.m. Tuesday in the 1800 block of East Ocean View Avenue.
According to police, the investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle had stolen from another store, then got into a fight with another man and drove away.
WAVY TV spoke with the owner of Ocean Laundromat, who provided us with a copy of the security camera footage of what happened next, which shows the car striking a truck parked in the parking lot, then crashing into the laundry business.
During the crash, a man's legs can be seen protruding from the driver's side window. The man exits the vehicle and a fight breaks out between him and the driver, who remains in the vehicle. The driver crashes the vehicle into a building multiple times before fleeing in a badly damaged and smoking vehicle.
Video footage from inside the store shows customers jumping to safety before fleeing through the front door.
Norfolk Police say the police motor unit is actively investigating the incident and are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the crime tip line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
It is unclear at this time if anyone involved in the accident was injured or if anyone has been charged.
