One record store lost more than 1,000 records when its basement flooded on Tuesday night.
GREELEY, Colo. — Greeley business owners are optimistic that events downtown this weekend will help them recover after a severe hailstorm Tuesday night caused extensive damage to some downtown businesses.

The storm dumped hail the size of golf balls, overflowing storm drains and flooding the basements of many downtown businesses.
Downtown Sound, a record store on 10th Avenue, was hit particularly hard: co-owner Dave Kazpensky reported the loss of more than 1,000 records stored in his basement, costing him more than $4,000 in financial losses.
“No music lover would hate to see any music damaged. The album gets wet, the cardboard crumbles. It's no good,” Kazpensky said.
Despite the damage, downtown Greeley was buzzing with activity Friday as hundreds of people attended the First Friday Fest concert series. The annual Greeley Blues Jam music festival, which draws thousands of people from around the country each year, begins Saturday.
These events bring a flood of much-needed visitors to the region.
“More people in town means more business. We are a music store and our customers are music lovers,” Kazpensky said, hoping for a speedy recovery.
Downtown Sound is one of many venues, including a variety of bars and restaurants, featuring blues music and live bands as part of the Greeley Blues Jam music festival on Saturday.
