Eminem has once again wowed his fans with his new single “Houdini.” As expected, the music video features cameos from A-list superstars such as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Pete Davidson, 50 Cent, and comedian Shane Gillis. But that's not all. Eminem also had one more surprise in the video: the return of a different version of “Slim Shady.”
Who appeared in Eminem's Houdini music video?
Eminem's latest music video, “Houdini,” was released on May 31 and features cameos from a ton of celebrities, including Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Pete Davidson, 50 Cent, and Shane Gilles. The music video begins with the rap star getting a call from his manager, Paul Rosenberg, informing him that he's one. Rosenberg says, “Hey Eminem, it's Paul. I've been listening to your album… good luck to you, you're one.”
Houdini was inspired by the 2002 song “Without Me.” Eminem then receives a video call from a dark-glasses-wearing Dr. Dre, who opens a portal to 2002 and tells him that his bleached-haired alter-ego, Slim Shady, has returned. The opening lyrics are, “Guess who's back, he's back again/Shady's back, tell your friends.” The music video then features two different versions of Eminem rap battling, in a similar cartoon-esque visual style to “Without Me.”

“Abra abracadabra (last trick)/Reaching for the bag, bro (nice)/Abra abracadabra (last trick, poof)/That's how I come back,” Eminem raps. Other celebrities, including 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, and comedian Shane Gillis, also appear in the video in cartoon-style frames. Eminem appears in the same superhero costume he has worn in the past.
The video ends with a blonde Pete Davidson appearing, getting behind the wheel of a Lamborghini and giving him a ride: “Don't worry, I just got my license back,” Davidson assures the rapper.
Eminem revives Slim Shady alter-ego on new album
The rapper released a poster a few days ago to let his fans know about his new music video. The poster features a magician wearing a Jason Voorhees hockey mask. “Guess who's back? One last trick…” the poster read. The rap star also released a video with magician David Blaine, asking the magician for help.
“I was thinking, what can I do with this magic? Can I do stunts? So for one last trick, I'm going to wipe out my career,” Eminem told Blaine. The rap star's latest and 12th album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), is filled with supernatural anecdotes, mystical powers and brings his long-dead alter-ego Slim Shady back to life in the present day.
The album also includes songs written from Shady's perspective, such as “My Name Is,” which includes lyrics like, “Hey, what's my name? Who's my name? My name's a flicka-flicka Slim Shady.”
Eminem's next album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), is expected to be released sometime in the summer of 2024. Meanwhile, Whodini has been well-received by fans who are eagerly awaiting the release of his 12th album.
