Celebrities have been blunt in their reaction to Donald Trump being found guilty of 34 felony counts, becoming the first US president to be convicted of a criminal offense, with one celebrity saying, “34 is now my favorite number.”
With Trump expected to seek the White House again in this year's presidential election, horror author Stephen King has pointed out: X/Twitter The message was, “The Republican presidential candidate is a convicted felon.”
Singer, actress and longtime Democrat Barbra Streisand also took notice of the November election, writing, “Convicted felon Donald Trump is blaming the judge, jury and New York for his 34-count conviction. He will never accept responsibility for his crimes. The American people must never allow this felon anywhere near the White House again.”
Others responded directly to the emotions surrounding the long-awaited verdict being announced. Actor John Leguizamo reposted a meme of people gathered at a bar seemingly reacting joyfully to the news, with the comment, “We are all rooting for justice. No one is above the law!”
Comedian Kathy Griffin, who was fired by CNN in 2017 for posting a photo of herself holding up a fake severed head of President Trump, responded to a fan's comment that the former president was “finally in trouble for a gang smack,” writing, “Thanks for saying that. That was awful and he's awful. Tears of joy.”
Star Wars Actor Mark Hamill, who recently appeared at the White House to voice his support for President Joe Biden, posted a screenshot showing the word “GUILTY” in bright red capital letters 34 times.
Wonder Woman Star Lynda Carter joked, “34 is my favorite number right now.” Mean Girls Actress Ana Gasteyer joked, “Looking back, I'm glad I decided not to drink every time I was told I was guilty, because otherwise I would never have been able to finish making dinner.”
meanwhile, SNL'Trump actor James Austin Johnson shared a hilarious video on Instagram reacting to the news.
But not everyone is happy. Piers Morgan called the trial “absurd” and “disgraceful,” while reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner responded to the verdict: write“It's an outrageous day for America. Of course the whole process is outrageous. It's a disgrace to the state of New York. It's a disgrace to the corrupt Department of Justice.”

“We New Yorkers put up with Trump when he was just a dirty real estate guy masquerading as a tycoon, but you can't have someone like Trump running this country. It doesn't work, and we know it.”
Meanwhile, pop star Katy Perry appeared to respond with an ambiguous message, writing “LFG” (an acronym for “Let's f***ing go”) on social media shortly after the verdict was announced.
