DUSSELDORF, Germany, June 03, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — FTI Consulting (NYSE: FCN) today announced the continued expansion of its business transformation capabilities in Europe with the addition of chemical industry expert Stefan Van Tienen as Senior Managing Director of Corporate Finance and Restructuring. His arrival follows the recent launch of its Business Transformation practice in Belgium with Jean-Michel Molot.
Van Tienen specializes in operations management and business optimization in the chemical sector, particularly in the areas of sustainability and digital transformation. In his role at FTI Consulting, he will contribute to the expansion of the company's chemical capabilities in business transformation services across Europe, offering clients a full range of services across the entire business lifecycle, from transaction to transformation.
“European chemical companies face many challenges in an ever-changing landscape of high energy and supply chain costs, stringent regulations, slowing growth, climate change and the demands of digital transformation programs,” said Diederik van der Plas, Head of Corporate Finance & Restructuring for Europe, Middle East and Africa at FTI Consulting. “Stefan will play a key role in supporting our clients through these significant challenges and opportunities. His deep industry knowledge and consulting experience make him an important hire for our chemical offering and the broader expansion plans for our Business Transformation practice in Europe.”
Van Tienen joins the company with 30 years of experience in the chemical sector. He spent half his career in the industry managing a variety of functions including engineering design, supply chain and production, field management and crisis management. He then moved into consulting, advising senior management teams of chemical companies on issues including supply chain strategy, performance improvement, climate action, digital and large-scale business transformation.
As a consultant, Mr. Van Tienen has worked with clients across Europe, including France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, the DACH region of Austria, and Central and Eastern Europe.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Van Tienen was a partner at Deloitte where he served as Energy & Chemicals Practice Leader for Germany and Central Europe and Global Client Leader. Prior to that, he served as Deloitte's Chemicals Practice Leader for Northern and Southern Europe. Mr. Van Tienen's industry experience includes positions at German chemical company Bayer's former rubber division and US industrial and engineering company JM Huber Corporation's Engineered Materials business.
Commenting on his appointment, Van Tienen said: “Our focus on crisis response and transformation is a key strength of FTI Consulting and is in high demand among our clients in the chemical industry. I am excited to join forces with the company in its ambition to expand its business transformation services to clients in Germany and across Europe.”
