Los Angeles – In honor of Pride Month, On the Red Carpet asked stars what celebrating Pride means to them.
Actor and model Jeffrey Bowyer Chapman said, “Listen, this is how I celebrate Pride every day. Right now, right now. Just being us. All of us celebrating together in a safe place? That's Pride.”
Lisa Rinna, a longtime advocate and supporter, answered the question with a smile: “I love all of you gay people. I just love you all. I love my trans friends, my gay friends, my drag friends. They're my people! They're my family,” she said.
As LGBTQ+ representation in media has developed, so has the range of stories being told.
Joel Kim Booster recently appeared on Freeform's “Chrissy Appearing on “Dave Dine Out” with Chrissy Teigen and David Chan, John McClellan said LGBTQ+ representation is important to people who don't know LGBTQ+ people. “The people on TV shows may be their only frame of reference,” he explained. On the show, his warm demeanor encouraged his guests to open up and share fascinating details.
“As a professional gay man, Pride has been a challenge for me over the last few years,” Booster joked. “Now it's become a pride thing for me to find a little bit of time to sit down, rest and reflect.”
Ronen Rubinstein, who stars in “9-1-1 Lone Star,” came out as bisexual in 2021. He commented on his role as TK, an openly gay firefighter. “Especially with it being Pride month, I think it's kind of special to go on set every day and play a queer character on TV,” he said.
“I think it's more important than ever for LGBTQ+ people and allies to celebrate pride and be an example of love for all people out there,” said Daniel Franzese, known for his role as Damien in Mean Girls.
