Out goes the golden retriever and wimpy jock. The summer of 2024 is all about hot rats. “Handsome rat” may sound like a sarcastic remark, but it's anything but.
The idea of anthropomorphizing animals in this way has been around at least since a 2023 tweet went viral that read, “Men handsome as eagles, handsome as bears, handsome as dogs, handsome as reptiles,” with photos of Ryan Gosling, Henry Cavill, Heath Ledger, and Timothée Chalamet. The ChallengersThe 2024 film The Little Boys starring Zendaya, Mike Feist and Josh O'Connor is all about the hot Rat Boys.
Hot rat men are known for their thin, curvaceous features and are more slender than muscular. They are often not generally considered hot, but they are attractive looking. There is a mystery to them, almost as if you have to win their affections (some might argue that this is way sexier than the slobbering affection you get from a golden retriever, but I'm not going to deny the deliciousness of others).
