Deepshikha Deshmukh joins global celebrities in beekeeping drive on World Environment Day
New Delhi (India), June 5: On World Environment Day, producer and entrepreneur Deepshikha Deshmukh is committed to protecting the environment by promoting beekeeping as a powerful way to fight the climate crisis. Her championing of this innovative yet traditional approach demonstrates her dedication to social issues and passion for sustainable practices.
Deepshikha Deshmukh, along with her husband Dheeraj Deshmukh, are among India's first beekeepers and have joined a global movement supported by celebrities such as Scarlett Johansson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Martha Stewart and Morgan Freeman to highlight the vital role that bees play in ecosystems as pollinators. Deepshikha emphasises that without bees, life as we know it would be dramatically different.
“We are currently battling urgent environmental issues in India,” Deepshika said. “Honeybees play a vital role in nature's symphony, keeping life in harmony by pollinating plants and maintaining ecosystems. Their work is irreplaceable and protecting them means protecting our world. Bees help plants grow which in turn helps all living things thrive. Today's climate crisis highlights the vital importance of supporting bees. As a mother, I believe beekeeping is a crucial step towards ensuring a brighter future for my children.”
A prominent figure in Maharashtra politics, Dheeraj Deshmukh continues the legacy of his father, former Chief Minister Shri Vilasrao Deshmukh. Known for his commitment to rural development, Dheeraj has made it his priority to empower farmers and create wealth opportunities in rural India. His efforts as a Latur Gramin State Legislator are in line with his wife's commitment to environmental issues.
The Deshmukh family's commitment to the environment is evident in their everyday lives. Their heartwarming photographs often capture the family's moments in nature and show their passion for teaching their children to value Mother Earth. These images highlight the importance of caring for and protecting the environment, setting a shining example for future generations.
