Why are the Eagles in the NBA Finals?
The Eagles held no events in Boston on Thursday — in fact, they held a mandatory minicamp in the Philadelphia area earlier in the day — suggesting that several Eagles players traveled to Boston for Game 1 with owner Jeffrey Lurie.
The answer to this question is likely Lurie's Boston connection. Lurie was born in Boston and earned degrees from three Massachusetts universities: Clark University, Boston University, and Brandeis University. Lurie taught at Boston University before going into business.
Despite the Philadelphia Eagles' rivalry with the Patriots in past Super Bowls, it's clear he loves the Celtics enough to make the trip to Boston and bring some of the Eagles' star players with him.
