Movie merchandise isn't something that immediately comes to mind when thinking of capital-C fashion. debt— but Jennifer Lawrence might change your mind.
Of course, Lawrence's latest outfit wasn't just any old movie merch: She wore a $330 T-shirt by Jonathan Anderson of Loewe, who also designed the costumes for Luca Guadagnino's Star Wars films. The ChallengersThe T-shirt in question was worn by Zendaya and Josh O'Connor in the film and later by both stars on the film's press tour, and features “I TOLD YA” printed in black block letters on a grey cotton background (white T-shirt and sweatshirt versions are also available on Loewe's website).
Lawrence tucked her favorite t-shirt into loose, high-rise, wide-leg black pants and finished off the look with plain black sandals and tortoiseshell sunglasses. She also elevated her look with her choice of bag: a black version of Dior's popular saddle bag with gold “CD” hardware on the shoulder strap. For jewelry, she kept it minimal, letting the shirt take center stage and opting for diamond stud earrings.
Anderson previously said the inspiration for the T-shirt came from John F. Kennedy Jr., who was photographed playing Frisbee with his dog while wearing a shirt with the same message. Bazaar “The film got me thinking about how the dynamics of sports play out on and off the court,” he said, adding, “I was thinking about how youth culture now has a different, more complex relationship with the world of sports. Athletes have become brands, and brands have become global phenomena. I wanted the style of the film to reflect this reality.”
